A challenge, and a birthday...

I was challenged to make something wearable from woven fabric, that would be visible when the wearer leaves the house. I made some cord pants for Lucas, from this cute corduroy that has turtles, frogs, snakes and salamanders on it.

And a hoodie for his birthday, which is a week from today. I had him try it on, and he thinks I was making it for someone else's kid, and wants me to make him one just like it. Sure!!

hello@!!
i followed a link to your blog from sewzanne's blog. hers is fun, yours is too. is this an active blog? i love the fun stuff you sewn for your little boy, and he is just a great model, too. i am looking for good fun blogs about sewing stuff at home. i'm not a mama, so not a sewing mama as in that site. but i do sew some kids stuff, bags, and honing in on stuff that will sell at an outdoor farmers/crafters market in seattle. its mostly produce so I need to nail it to sell crafts successfully. i am working on a market bag from recycled and natural materials, also a fun functional 1/2 and full apron for cooks, and then some Tees and tye die and onesies (funzees) for kids with local stuff printed. if this interests you, or you'd like to promote conversation about sewing, i am open and looking for that. anyways you've got a fun blog here.

i love this little red hoodie, love the closure with the stripes and strong graphics. too bad there's not matching velcro rather than white. does your son usually have the velcro fastened, or no? i made a Black watch band with a velcro closure and course the velcro is White so I had same prob - no time to run to store and get black velcro lol do you use a serger for sewing knits? i have sewn for 30 yrs and sewn a Tee once. for kids stuff knits the deal. the red hoodie looks like a good weight to wear year-round.
